The Australian women’s water polo team, the Stingers, began their campaign at the 2011 FINA Aquatic World Championships on the wrong foot with a 7-10 loss to Canada on day two of competition in Shanghai.

The team, featuring four NSWIS athletes, was down 2-5 at half-time and were unable to mount a serious challenge to the Canadians despite scoring three goals in the final quarter.

Today’s action will see the Australian men’s water polo team, the Sharks, take on Romania. Five NSWIS athletes will compete for the Sharks, while NSWIS divers Alex Croak and Melissa Wu compete in the women’s 10m synchronised platform.
