The NSWIS Men’s Road Cycling team have surpassed all expectations at the Jayco Herald Sun Tour in Victoria this week.

The standout result was Jake Kauffman, known as the Hulk among the team, winning the sprint classification and taking home the prestigious green jersey. This victory was secured through a combination of smart tactical racing, and well as impressive power and speed when it was needed from Kauffman.

The young team made sure they were represented in every break throughout the tour, enabling Kauffman to rack up the intermediate sprint points. The team of Tom Robinson, Alex Wolher, Dan Fitter, Josh Taylor, Ayden Toovey and Dylan Sunderland performed admirably against a truly world class field.

This was the first race the NSWIS team have competed in since they were granted an international UCI licence, and they certainly grasped the opportunity. They will go on into the rest of the season full of confidence.
