Three athletes from the NSW Institute of Sport, Erin Cleaver, Madi de Rozario and Evan O’Hanlon have today been named in the Australian team for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The athletes were revealed as part of the initial 14 athletes selected today by Athletics Australia for the Games in April. It comprised automatic selections in the 10,000m and para events, along with full marathon selections.

Teenager Erin Cleaver (MQH) was named in the T38 long jump and will hope to be added to the 100m after the trails in February. Her silver medal at the London world championships earned her automatic selection. Courtesy of his win in London, Evan O’Hanlon (UTN) has been selected in the T38 100m. During a glittering career, O’Hanlon, who trains under coach Iryna Dvoskina, has won 13 world championship or Paralympic titles.

The third athlete is Sydney-based Western Australian, Madi de Rozario was also selected in the T54 1500m.

The remaining athletes in the Australian Athletics Team will be announced in late February 2018.
