New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Olympian Jakara Anthony has announced she will be taking a break from competition during the 2026-27 season.

The 28-year-old from Barwon Heads, Victoria, announced the decision on her social media:

“After over 15 years of back-to-back winters it’s time for a break (and warmer weather!) No comps for me this season – see you back on tour next year!”

Anthony is the only female mogul skier to have won multiple Olympic gold medals and holds the record for the most World Cup medals and victories by an Australian winter sports athlete.

“Jakara came back from injury before the Olympic season and then went through an intense campaign into Milano Cortina. She has earned this break, and it’s a good opportunity for her to catch her breath before turning her focus to the French Alps 2030 Olympic Winter Games,” said Olympic Winter Institute of Australia CEO Geoff Lipshut.

Anthony plans to return to competition for the 2027–28 World Cup season.
