The Australian men’s junior water polo team is set to tackle the powerhouses of the game with an upcoming tour of Europe, culminating at the 2011 Slovakia Cup.

The team, coached by NSWIS coach Chris Wybrow, will face European giants Serbia, Croatia, Hungary and Slovakia at the cup, while also take part in training camps in Serbia, Hungary and Croatia.

"This will be the first tour overseas for this group," said Wybrow, "And I’m confident that these players will form the nucleus of the team competing at the 2013 Junior World Championships in Perth in two years time."

Seven NSWIS athletes have been selected on the team, including Anthony Hyrsanthos, Gordon Marshall, Matt Skinner, Ciaran Wolohan, Reed Cotterill, Blake Buckley and Alex Webb.

"I believe I’ve selected the new breed of water polo players on this team; they’re bigger, stronger and have the legs needed to compete at the elite level. It will no doubt be a tough trip for them," said Wybrow.

The 2011 Slovakia Cup takes place in Novaky, Slovakia from 29-30 July 2011.
