NSWIS diver Brittany O’Brien, along with teammate Emily Meaney, have got the Australian team off the mark with their first medal of the World University Games.

The duo only recently came together for the Games and had only three practice sessions before competing, but put together a strong series of dives to win silver in the 10m synchro with a personal best total of 297.84.

O’Brien, who was a late call up to the Australian team for the Rio Olympics, was particularly happy with the medal due to the lack of time the pair have spent together. “We’ve only competed together once but we take every chance we get [to practice] when we are together.”

The Uniroos diving team, led by NSWIS diving coach Joel Rodriguez, now look towards the individual 10m Platform event on Tuesday.
