It’s been a dream start for Caleb Ewan in the Tour of Britain, winning two of three stages so far in the race which got underway on Sunday.

Ewan, who competes for team Orica-Scott, sprinted to victory in stage three of the Tour of Britain to regain the overall lead.

The NSW Institute of Sport cyclist also took the win in the opening stage, and is now six seconds clear of Team Sky’s Elia Viviani, who won stage two on Monday after Boasson Hagen was demoted for irregular sprinting.

Ewan told Cycling News: “I was a bit disappointed after yesterday, I was boxed in during the sprint so I never got to open up [my sprint].

“Luckily the team still backed me 100 per cent, and we rode like we were going for the win straight from the start.”

Wednesday’s stage sees Ewan take on a 165km route from Mansfield to Newark-on-Trent.
