Three NSWIS athletes were in action on day seven of Sochi competition, with skeleton racer John Farrow (@johnfarrowAUS) highlighting the results.

Farrow’s Olympic debut resulted in a 19th placing after two runs in the men’s skeleton, but just over two years ago the 31 year old thought he had to walk away from sport forever.

Farrow suffered a horrific injury in a training accident in late 2011, when he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, lateral collateral ligament and biceps femoris, fractured his tibia, tore his posterior cruciate ligament, damaged the peroneal nerve in his leg, and paralysed his foot.

After initially fearing that his sporting career was over, Farorow undertook nearly two years of extensive rehabilitation before realising his Olympic dream overnight.

Following two solid opening runs Farrow will now head into the final two runs early Sunday morning, Sydney time, with a chance at recording Australia’s best Olympic result in the men’s skeleton.

Joining Farrow in Olympic action overnight were fellow NSWIS athletes Lucy Glanville and Callum Watson (
@callumwxc). Glanville competed in her second event, the women’s individual 15km biathlon, finishing 78th overall, while Watson finished 75th in the men’s 15km classic cross country event.
