2015 world champion Ashlee Ankudinoff has finished fifth as part of the Australian women’s team pursuit title defence at the 2016 UCI Track World Championships in London.

Ankudinoff joined Georgia Baker, Amy Cure and Annette Edmondson in the heat and first round as Australia was knocked out of medal contention by the USA.

Rebecca Wiasak then joined the team in place of Edmondson in the fifth and sixth place race off as the Australian quartet defeated Italy to secure fifth.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Kaarle McCulloch was also in action at the championships, finishing eighth in the women’s keirin.
