The familiar faces of Katrina Lawrence and Jessica Fox reigned supreme at the 2011 New Zealand Canoe Slalom Championships over the weekend in the perfect warm up to the upcoming international season.

Lawrence was stellar in claiming the women’s K1 in a time of 111.24 seconds to be crowned Oceania Champion, while Fox shared the same honour in the women’s C1.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Sam Lyons returned to form with a bronze medal in the men’s K1, claiming the Oceania title after his competitors from Switzerland and the Czech Republic took gold and silver, respectively.

The next major event for the world’s elite canoe slalom athletes will be the 2011 Australian Canoe Slalom Championships from 18-20 February, the gateway to the international season.
