Olympian Jess Fox has staked her claim for a spot on the 2013 Australian canoe slalom team with a strong showing at the Australian Canoe Slalom Open over the weekend.

Fox was the stand out competitor from the championships after triumphing in the women’s C1 and taking silver in the women’s K1 behind Czech Katerina Kudejova.

The women’s C1 turned out to be an all-NSWIS affair with fellow NSWIS athletes Rosalyn Lawrence and Alison Borrows taking silver and bronze, respectively.

The men’s events were highlighted by Lucien Delfour taking bronze in the men’s K1 as the leading Australian behind his Czech and German competitors. Joey Croft finished sixth in the same event, while Ethan Hodson finished fourth in the men’s C2 Robin Jeffery.

There was further success for junior NSWIS athletes at the championships. Angus Thompson won gold in the men’s junior K1 with Lachlan Croft taking bronze in the same event, while rising star Noemie Fox triumphed in the women’s junior C1.
