The history-making 2026 Australian Winter Olympic Team was celebrated by the Olympic family at a homecoming in Sydney on Friday night. 

Led by Chef de Mission, Alisa Camplin AM OLY, 40 members of the 55-strong Team attended the AOC President’s Welcome Home event including five of the six medallists: Jakara Anthony (gold – dual moguls), Josie Baff (gold – snowboard cross), Matt Graham (bronze – dual moguls), Danielle Scott (silver – aerials) and Cooper Woods (gold – moguls).

The night marked the end of a storied chapter in Australian Winter Olympic history and was attended by The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC and The Hon Anika Wells MP, Minister for Communications and Minister for Sport. 

With three gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal, this was Australia’s most successful Winter Olympic Team, with more than half the Team finishing in the top-15.   

Patron in Chief of the Australian Olympic Committee, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC thanked the Team of 2026 for their contribution to Australia.   

“You are Australia’s greatest Winter Olympic Team,” Ms Mostyn said during her address.

“You gave us memories to last a lifetime, and inspiration to build on all that you achieved. Exceptional and courageous athletes, you give so much to the life of our country.” 

The Hon Anika Wells MP, Minister for Communications and Minister for Sport highlighted the generational effect of this Team.  

“This history-making result is the product of years of dedication from athletes, coaches and support staff, underpinned by strong leadership, absolute determination and a long-term vision,” Ms Wells said to the Team. 

“The Australian Government is proud to be providing record funding to Australia’s high-performance athletes, and I thank the sport sector for its shared commitment to the Win Well strategy.” 

AOC President Ian Chesterman said the Team made the rest of the world recognise that Australia is now a legitimate winter sports power.  

“The medal results were outstanding, but what was so pleasing was to see 23 top-10 results showcasing the depth of talent in the Team and the bright future as we now focus on French Alps 2030,” Mr Chesterman said.
