Exactly one year ago from last Sunday, NSWIS Paralympic athlete Angela Ballard broke the 400 metre T53 World Record on the first day of the IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland, with a blistering time of 54.73 seconds.

Ballard, who won silver in this event at London 2012, was 0.15 seconds faster than the previous record set by the USA’s Jessica Galli on her way to gold, six years ago at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

Fast forward to Sunday June 5 2016, and Ballard again broke the record. Her record.

Ballard broke her own T53 400 metre record at the Indy Invitational Meet in Indianapolis, USA.

The 34 year old raced in the heats on Saturday morning where she broke her previous World Record by 0.04 seconds, to set a new time of 54.69

Ballard then celebrated her 34th birthday the day after the race on Monday, with her new World Record making her birthday all the more sweeter.
