Wheelchair track star Angie Ballard continued her world beating form with a strong showing at the IPC Athletics Grand Prix over the weekend.

Day one of competition saw Ballard dominate the competition to win gold in the women’s wheelchair 100m, 400m and 1500m events, before going on to take honours in the wheelchair 200m and 800m on day two to make a clean sweep of her events.

“It’s just good to get some good racing done on a fast track, and to come away with a few wins is a great thing to,” Ballard said to Athletics Australia.

“It’s awesome to know that I am faster now than at the same time in 2015. I broke two world records last year off a slower preparation so that’s exciting. If this is an indication of how the Paralympic year will go it is a great place to be.”

Fellow NSWIS athlete Kurt Fearnley, who was named captain of the Australian team for the 2016 Paralympic Games, was also in the winner’s circle after claiming gold in the men’s wheelchair 1500m.
