The 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships concluded overnight, with wheelchair racer Angela Ballard being the standout performer from the NSWIS contingent.

Ballard was impressive in winning four medals, three silver and one bronze. Ballard, coached by NSWIS coach Louise Sauvage, won silver in the women’s T53 100m, 200m and 800m, while also picking up bronze in the women’s T53 400m.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Rosemary Little won two medals at the championships, taking silver in the women’s T34 200m and bronze in the women’s T34 100m, before heading to the London Olympic Anniversary Games where she won silver in the women’s T33/34 100m.

Guy Henley rounded out the medal winners from the world championships with a bronze in the men’s F37/38 discus, with Richard Nicholson finishing ninth in the men’s T54 200m and Stephanie Schweitzer claiming sixth in the women’s F20 long jump.

NSWIS coach Sauvage enjoyed a successful meet with Ballard and Little winning a swag of medals, while another of her athletes, Madison De Rozario from Western Australia won a bronze and earned a further two top 10 finishes.
