The Brisbane Roar claimed the W-League championship over the weekend after a hard fought victory over Sydney FC, ending the Blues’ hopes of a second straight championship.

The Blues could have been considered favourites after their 5-1 drubbing of Melbourne Victory last week, and with the scores locked at 1-1 at half-time the match was anyone’s to take.

NSWIS athlete Kylie Ledbrook scored the Blues’ only goal to even up the scores before the Roar’s Lisa De Vanna provided the winner in the 65th minute.
