Five NSWIS bowls athletes have been crowned world champions following the conclusion of the 2012 Lawn Bowls World Championships in Adelaide.

Karen Murphy, Kelsey Cottrell, Natasha Van Eldik, Leif Selby and Aron Sherriff all climbed to the top of the medal dais as Australia won five gold and two silver medals from eight disciplines, the nation’s best ever result at a world championship event.

Murphy triumphed in the women’s singles before teaming up with Van Eldik to take gold in the women’s triples; Cottrell won gold in the women’s pairs; Selby triumphed in the men’s singles and Sherriff secured gold in the men’s fours.

Selby and Sherriff also teamed up to take silver in the men’s pairs, while Van Eldik and Cottrell were part of the quartet that finished eighth in the women’s fours.
