Sydney Northern Beaches’ kayaker Jo Brigden-Jones has won the K1 and K2 200 metres double at the Australian Canoeing National Sprint Championships in Adelaide adding to her victory in K2 500 on Thursday.

On the comeback trail from a terrible shoulder injury that had her sidelined for most of 2013, the 25-year-old claimed the K1 200 in 42.93, before teaming up with popular South Australian Hannah Davis in the K2 200.

The experienced pair showed their class on a limited preparation to win in 42.11. Fellow NSWIS athlete, Naomi Flood, finish third in the K1 event, before placing second in the K2 200 alongside Western Australian Jaime Roberts.

Brigden-Jones was over the moon with her efforts after sickness had threatened to derail her campaign earlier.

“I am pretty stoked with that race (K1 200), it worked out perfectly and just stuck to my race plan," Brigden-Jones said.

“The other day I was not feeling so good, I was seriously considering pulling out of a few races so glad I stuck with it.

“Your body always knows what to do on the start line so I was just hoping it would come good for these couple of days and feeling much better so really happy."

World surf ski champion Lachlan Tame won his first K1 200 national title surging home in 37.17 to defeat a star studded field. He then backed that up with a silver in the K2 200 alongside Ken Wallace (Qld).

“It is the first time I have won a K1 at Nationals so that is pretty cool. Obviously it is a building block as you want to go to Worlds and that is the goal now”, Tame said.

In the Paracanoe, Penrith’s Colin Sieders was the pick of the arms only competitors posting a time of 1:00.81, a two second improvement on Friday’s result.
