Australian Snowboard Cross Olympian Cam Bolton sustained a serious injury during a fall on course at training on Monday 9 February. 

Australian Olympic Team medical staff responded to head, neck and shoulder symptoms.

Today, Tuesday 10 February, Bolton reported worsening neck pain. The Australian Olympic Team medical staff arranged a CT scan at the Olympic Polyclinic which identified two stable neck fractures.

He has been transferred by helicopter to a hospital in Milan for further imaging and assessment accompanied by a member of the Australian Olympic medical team.

The Australian Olympic medical team will continue to work with local doctors on Bolton’s treatment. 

The Late Athlete Replacement option has been enacted and debutant James Johnstone will join the team alongside Adam Lambert and Jarryd Hughes in the men’s Snowboard Cross qualifying on Thursday 12 February.
