Four NSWIS canoe sprint athletes have officially been selected on the Australian Olympic team.

Leading the selections is Murray Stewart, who dominated four classes of competition during the selection trials. Stewart triumphed in the men’s K1 200m, K1 1000m, K2 1000m and K4 1000m during the selection events to earn nomination and selection.

It is unlikely he will compete in all four classes at the Games, however his strong form will undoubtedly see him as a medal chance in London.

Joining Stewart will be fellow NSWIS athlete Sebastian Marczak after he won a tight selection battle in the men’s C1 200m. Marczak will make his Olympic debut in London.

NSWIS athletes Jo Brigden-Jones and Naomi Flood will also be competing at their maiden Games in London. Brigden-Jones secured selection in the women’s K4 500m, while Flood will head to London as part of the women’s K2 500m, with both teams in the mix for medals.
