The 2014 Oceania Canoe Slalom Championships took place over the weekend, with a number of NSWIS athletes taking to the podium.

Olympic silver medallist Jessica Fox was crowned champion in the women’s K1 to kickstart her year in fine fashion, outlasting two German competitors en route to the title. Fox clocked a time of 100.12 seconds, including two penalties, to win by just 1.83 seconds.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Rosalyn Lawrence was also in the winner’s circle after taking out the women’s C1. Lawrence defeated Fox by nearly four seconds to claim the gold, as NSWIS athletes Alison Borrows and Noemie Fox finished fourth and sixth, respectively.

The men’s results were highlighted by NSWIS athlete Will Forsythe taking silver in the men’s K1, missing out on gold by just 0.44 seconds, while Ian Borrows finished fourth in the men’s C1.
