This season’s second canoe sprint world cup came to a close in Germany over the week, with four NSWIS athletes narrowly missing out on medals.

Jo Brigden-Jones was the pick of the NSWIS quartet as she finished fourth in the women’s K2 200m and women’s K1 4x200m relay, as well as sixth in the women’s K4 500m.

Her results were complemented by fellow NSWIS athlete Murray Stewart, who claimed a fourth place finish in the men’s K4 1000m and fifth in the men’s K1 1000m, while Naomi Flood finished ninth in the women’s K2 500m.

Sebastian Marczak also competed in Germany, unfortunately missing out on the A and B finals in the men’s C1 200m.

The next world cup takes place in Moscow, Russia from 1-3 June 2012.
