NSWIS athlete Britteny Cox has signalled her intentions for a berth on the Australian Winter Olympic team by winning moguls bronze at a world cup meet in the USA.

Cox finished behind reigning Olympic champion Hannah Kearney and two time world championship medallist Nikola Sudova in the women’s freestyle moguls event, winning the second world cup bronze medal of her burdgeoning career.

The bronze medal saw Cox’s world ranking rise to fifth, while also assuring the 18 year old has met the qualificaiton standard for the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games.

Fellow NSWIS athletes Taylah O’Neill and Nicole Parks finished 21st and 22nd respectively, while Matt Graham finished 25th in the men’s freestyle moguls event.


Elsewhere, NSWIS ski cross athletes competed a world cup meet in France.

Katya Crema was the best placed of the athletes, finishing fifth in the women’s ski cross, while Jenny Owens and Sami Kennedy-Sim finished 25th and 27th.

Anton Grimus placed 54th in the men’s event, with Scott Kneller unable to compete due to injury.
