Two NSWIS athletes have come away with silver medals from the London leg of the 2014 UCI Track Cycling World Cup over the weekend.

Ashlee Ankudinoff joined compatriots Melissa Hoskins, Amy Cure and Bella King to win silver in the women’s team pursuit on the opening day of competition.

The Australians dispatched of Canada in the semi-final before facing Great Britain for gold, with the home team taking the victory by just over two seconds.

Scott Law was the second NSWIS athlete to medal at the event after he took home silver from the men’s omnium.

Law moved from seventh to third after winning the men’s 1km time trial on the final day of competition, before gaining another place by winning the flying lap.

Despite being 24 points in arrears of first place the gold medal was still up for grabs as the competition moved to the points race. However Law was unable to bridge the gap between first and second, eventually settling for silver.

The Australian team finished with three silver medals overall from the event, with the next World Cup taking place in Cali, Colombia from January 17-18.
