The Slovakia leg of the 2015 ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup was highlighted by NSWIS paddler Lucien Delfour, who won gold in the men’s K1 team alongside compatriots Daniel Watkins and Jaxon Merritt.

The Australian trio defeated a number of highly fancied European teams en route to gold, finishing in a clean time of 104.77 seconds to outlast Poland in second and Slovenia in third. Delfour led the team strongly before Watkins and Merritt continued the good form to secure top spot on the podium.

There was further medal success for NSWIS athletes Jessica and Noemie Fox, who won bronze in the women’s K1 team event alongside senior international debutant Kate Eckhardt. The result was the first time the Fox sisters had shared the podium together with the team finishing 4.80 seconds behind winners Slovakia.

The next World Cup in the series takes place in La Seu D’Urgell, Spain from 7-9 August.
