NSWIS equestrian athletes Chris Burton and Shane Rose have finished second and fourth, respectively at New Zealand leg of the 2011 FEI Eventing World Cup.

It was a tense battle between Burton and eventual winner Clarke Johnstone of New Zealand. Burton was right in the mix for gold until recording a time penalty during the showjumping section to slip back to second and take silver overall on 50.9 points.

Rose was also unfortunate to record a time penalty in the showjumping section to finish on 54.7 points, narrowly missing out on a medal.

The series now moves to Sydney from 6-8 May 2011.
