Two NSWIS equestrian athletes have earned the right to be nominated to the Australian Olympic team after strong performances in qualifiers over the past week.

Dressage athlete Lyndal Oatley and her horse Sandro Boy earned the right to be nominated to the Olympic team following a fourth place finish in the Compiegne CDI3* grand prix in France. The fourth place finish meant Oatley topped the Australian rankings over the course of two qualifiers.

Jumper Julia Hargreaves and her horse Vedor have cemented their claim for a berth on the London team late last week after finishing in the top two combinations at the conclusion of the second qualifying event in France.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Edwina Tops-Alexander has already secured a jumping spot on the team.

Hargreaves’ and Oatley’s nominations are expected to be finalised this week.
