The NSW Institute of Sport hosted the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) for their recent Sydney Special Interest Group Gathering, a regular meeting of industry professionals.

Members of the NSWIS Strength & Conditioning department presented on a range of topics, sharing presentations and their first-hand experiences working with Australia’s elite athletes.

Up first was Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach Chris Spinks, who presented “Changing the narrative – how you can shift your challenges to opportunities, utilise the skills you have and drive a performance shift in your program”.

Head of Strength and Conditioning at the NSW Institute of Sport Phil Moreland then discussed the decision-making process, focusing on how to make better decisions.

Daniel Tilley presented “The Journey of an S&C Coach”, discussing the learnings and opportunities he’s discovered throughout his career, the challenges he’s encountered and strategies to overcome them. Fellow Strength & Conditioning Coach Zsolt Zsombor talked candidly on his journey from a young athlete to becoming an Olympian, a teacher and a coach.

The Sydney Special Interest Group Gathering is a regular occurrence which brings together sports experts from across the city. ASCA is an incorporated non-profit organisation and is the peak national body for strength and conditioning professionals in Australia.  As the peak industry body, the ASCA aims to ensure and enhance quality-assured strength and conditioning coaches for sports and the sporting community.
