Wheelchair track & road racer Kurt Fearnley has won a bronze medal in the men’s 5000m at the 2011 Swiss Open Nationals in Switzerland.

In one of the great meets of the year, Fearnley was edged out of gold by rivals David Weir and Marcel Hug to secure bronze in 10:25.36, easily posting a Paralympic ‘A’ qualifying time for the 2012 London Paralympic Games. Fearnley also posted top 10 finishes in the men’s 800m and 1500m events.

Christie Dawes posted top 10 finishes in the women’s 1500m and 5000m, while Angela Ballard recorded a ninth place in the women’s 200m and 10th in the women’s 100m.

Madison de Rozario, a WAIS athlete who is coached by NSWIS coach Louise Sauvage finished with one silver and three bronze medals at the meet.
