Two NSWIS athletes have narrowly missed out on medals at the 2014 Triathlon Mixed Relay World Championships in Hamburg, Germany.

Competing as half of the Australian team, NSWIS athletes Aaron Royle and Charlotte McShane finished fourth in the testing event. The Australians were looking good for a podium finish before being passed by Hungary on the final leg, with Great Britain winning gold and France taking silver.

The weekend of racing also doubled as the Hamburg leg of the ITU Triathlon World Series, with Royle finishing 11th in the men’s elite and McShane finishing 28th in the women’s elite.

Fellow NSWIS athletes Brendan Sexton and Ryan Bailie finished 40th and 46th respectively in the men’s elite event.
