Four NSWIS track & field athletes were in the medals at the Melbourne World Challenge as the countdown to the world championships continued.

Two time Olympian Youcef Abdi was the pick of the NSWIS foursome after he won gold in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, holding off fellow NSWIS athlete James Nipperess who finished with silver.

Rising star Nicholas Hough continued his strong domestic form with a silver in the men’s 200m, finishing just 0.17 behind former world champion Wallace Spearmon of the USA.

Fabrice Lapierre was the final NSWIS athlete to make the medal dais after he took bronze in the men’s long jump. Fellow Australian Mitchell Watt took silver while reigning Olympic champion Greg Rutherford won gold.
