NSWIS paddler Jessica Fox has continued her unbelievable run of form by claiming canoe slalom gold at the 2013 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in the Czech Republic.

Competing in the women’s C1, Fox was simply too good for her opposition as she powered to victory by 13 seconds, accumulating six penalty seconds along the way but still managing to take the win.

The world championship gold comes just over one year after Fox took silver in the women’s K1 at the 2012 Olympic Games, with fellow NSWIS athletes Rosalyn Lawrence and Alison Borrows finishing fifth and eighth respectively.

However the gold rush did not stop there for Fox and her fellow NSWIS athletes, with the trio later teaming up to secure world champion status in the women’s team C1.

The trio finished just 1.49 seconds ahead of second place to secure gold, confirming Australia’s dominance in the non-Olympic C1 event.

Fox and Lawrence then teamed with Sarah Grant to finish fourth in the women’s K1 team event, while individually Lawrence was the standout performer in the women’s K1 final after finishing seventh.

The world championships also saw NSWIS athletes Will Forsythe and Lucien Delfour in action.

Individually Forsythe and Delfour finished 16th and 36th respectively in the men’s K1, before they teamed with compatriot Jaxon Merritt to take eighth in the men’s K1 team event.
