NSWIS paddler Jessica Fox has won a bronze medal on her return to the Lee Valley White Water Centre in London at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup.

Competing for the first time at the site of her Olympic silver medal triumph in 2012, Fox returned to Lee Valley and highlighted her results with bronze in the women’s K1.

Despite qualifying for the final in first position, the 19 year old couldn’t match her competitors in the final to fall short by under a second. NSWIS athlete Rosalyn Lawrence finished 26th in the semi-final.

Fox’s K1 bronze medal was complemented by a fourth place finish in the women’s C1, with fellow NSWIS athlete Ali Borrows finishing eighth, and Lawrence placing 13th in the semi-final.

Ian Borrows was the best placed of the NSWIS competitors in the men’s events, finishing 18th in the men’s C1 semi-final.

Also in competition were Lucien Delfour and Will Forsythe, who finished 24th and 29th respectively in the semi-final of the men’s K1. The NSWIS duo then teamed with compatriot Jaxon Merritt to place fourth in the men’s K1 team event.
