NSWIS paddler Jessica Fox has claimed her first gold medal of the international season with a win at the Tacen, Slovenia leg of the 2014 ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup.

Following a bronze medal last week in London, Fox added gold in the women’s C1 after a mistake-free run of 120.69 seconds. Her nearest rivals finished more than 15 seconds in arrears, with fellow NSWIS athlete Rosalyn Lawrence coming in fifth.

Joining Fox atop the medal podium was fellow NSWIS athlete Ian Borrows, who won gold as a member of the Australian men’s C1 team. Competing with compatriots Robin Jeffery and Christian Fabris, the Australian trio won gold in 128.53, over seven ahead of their more fancied European competitors.

There was further success for NSWIS athlete Will Forsythe, who recorded his best ever world cup result with a sixth place finish in the men’s K1.
