NSWIS taekwondo athletes Safwan Khalil and Hayder Shkara have both secured Olympic quota spots for Australia at the Oceania Championships in Papua New Guinea.

Khalil triumphed in the men’s -58kg category while Shkara claimed gold in the men’s -80kg category, with both athletes coached by Khalil’s brother Ali.

With quota spots secure national selectors will now make their final selections for the team before seeking ratification from the Australian Olympic Committee and the international body.
