The Giants have strengthened their grip on the Super Netball competition following a thrilling one point win over the Sunshine Coast Lightning as the NSW Swifts fell to the Queensland Firebirds.

Shooter Kristina Brice secured the win with a final minute goal as the Giants claimed the 55-54 win, while the Swifts were unable to overcome the Firebirds, losing 52-63 in a rematch of last season’s grand final.

The Giants have now clocked four wins from four matches as the Swifts sit in sixth place after one win, one draw and two losses this season.

The league-leading Giants, featuring six NSWIS athletes, next play the Adelaide Thunderbirds, while the Swifts, featuring 14 NSWIS athletes, next play the West Coast Fever.
