NSWIS rower Cameron Girdlestone has had his gold medal hunt put on ice for another 24 hours due to bad weather in Rio.

Competition was rescheduled with rain and choppy conditions greeting athletes and officials.

Girdlestone will feature in the men’s quadruple sculls final after qualifying on day one of the rowing competition.

The Australians, featuring Girdlestone, Karsten Forsterling, Alexander Belonogoff and James McRae were super impressive in qualifying automatically for the medal race when they won their opening day heat.

The rescheduled final is set for just after 11pm tonight (AEST).
