The Australian women’s wheelchair basketball team has finished sixth at the 2014 IWBF Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championships.

Featuring NSWIS athletes Kylie Gauci and Sarah Stewart, the Gliders enjoyed early wins over Peru, France and Mexico before falling to the Netherlands and Canada in successive matches to miss out on the medal rounds.

A win over China saw the Gliders move into a fifth and sixth place playoff against Great Britain, where despite their best efforts the Australians fell short, losing 70-77 to finish sixth overall.

Hosts Canada took the gold with a four point win over Germany, with the Netherlands taking bronze.
