The Australian women’s wheelchair basketball team, the Gliders, have won the 2012 Osaka Cup after defeating Canada 59-50 in the final.

NSWIS athletes Kylie Gauci and Sarah Stewart were the standouts for the Australian team, with each player racking up 14 points and five rebounds. Gauci and Stewart then added four and five assists, respectively, to their stat lines.

The Gliders were confident their best basketball would account for the Canadians, and in the end they did just that to win the Osaka Cup and send a warning to their international competitors ahead of the 2012 London Paralympic Games.
