It was another golden day for NSWIS athletes at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, with James Magnussen (@james_maggie91), Matthew Abood (@MattAbood) and Maddison Elliott(@maddi_louis91) all taking to the top of the podium.

Just as the women’s team did on day one of competition, the Australian men’s 4x100m relay team won gold in front of a packed house at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre. Featuring Abood and Magnussen, who swam the second and third legs respectively, the Australian quartet won gold in a time of 3:13.44, a new Commonwealth Games record.

Not to be outdone, Paralympic golden girl Elliott continued adding to her already impressive resume with a win in the women’s 100m freestyle S8. Not content with just the gold, Elliott set a new world record of 1:05.32 en route to being crowned Commonwealth champion.

Still in the pool, NSWIS athlete Emma McKeon (
@emma_mckeon) added a third medal to her swag after only two days on competition, winning bronze in the women’s 100m butterfly.

The NSWIS medal tally stands at four gold, one silver and two bronze following two days of competition.
