NSWIS winter sports athletes Matthew Graham and Alex Pullin have both won FIS World Cup medals over the weekend.

Graham’s silver medal at the freestyle moguls World Cup in Canada was the highlight of the weekend as the 21 year old posted a score of 87.74 points to secure a podium finish, just over six points from the Canadian winner.

Fellow NSWIS athletes Brodie Summers and Rohan Chapman-Davies finished 27th and 32nd respectively, while Britt Cox finished seventh in the women’s event.

Elsewhere, two-time snowboard cross world champion Alex Pullin claimed bronze at the first of two World Cup events in Germany. He then followed his bronze with a fifth placing in the second World Cup of the double header.

Belle Brockhoff narrowly missed out on claiming a medal in the women’s snowboard cross, finishing sixth and fifth respectively in the two events, while Jarryd Hughes placed 15th and 28th in two events.

Youngster Matthew Thomas finished 44th and 38th.

NSWIS snowboarder Torah Bright was also in action over the weekend, winning silver in the women’s half-pipe at the Laax Open in Switzerland.

Bright posted a score of 84.12 points in the final to finish second behind American Arielle Gold.
