NSWIS ski cross athlete Anton Grimus has made a solid debut on the Sochi Olympic course by finishing eighth in the Games’ official test event.

Grimus finished second fastest in the qualifying rounds of the men’s ski cross event before eventually finishing fourth in the consolation final and eighth overall. The eighth place finish saw Grimus maintain his world ranking of 13 and strengthen his bid to compete at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Scott Kneller finished 28th in the event, while in the women’s ski cross Katya Crema was the best placed NSWIS athlete in 11th, with Sami Kennedy-Sim finishing 29th.
