Australia’s divers have finished the 2023 international diving season on a high, taking home two silver medals at the 2023 World Aquatics Diving World Cup Super Final held in Berlin Germany over the weekend.

NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) scholarship holder Nikita Hains was part of Australia’s Mixed 3 & 10-Metre Team which included Maddison Keeny, Shixin Li and Cassiel Rousseau and finished second on the podium to take home a silver medal.

The four Australian divers combined to finish the event with an impressive score of 390.70  finishing just five points behind the Canadian team on 395.50.

Recently crowned 10-Metre Platform World Champion, Cassiel Rousseau joined forces with Domonic Bedggood in the Men’s 10-Metre Synchronised event to win a second silver medal behind China’s Hao Yang and Junjie Lian.

Bedggood said the pair were pleasantly surprised with their second-place result.

“We weren’t really expecting a podium result, we were hoping for a top-five finish similar to what we did at Worlds’ to continue the progression, Bedggood said.

“To come away with a silver medal is very exciting for us. I think it says a lot about Aussies, we always stay in the fight and never quit, that really proved to help us in the competition,” he said.

Of the ten divers that competed in Berlin, nine advanced to the finals of their respective event. The Australian diving team will now return home to prepare for the next international season where further quota positions will be up for grabs to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
