NSWIS runner Madeline Heiner was one of eight Australian athletes to qualify for the 2015 IAAF World Championships thanks to her performance at the Melbourne World Challenge over the weekend.

Heiner’s triumph came in the women’s 3000m steeplechase where she defeated Kenyan Magdalene Masai and compatriot Victoria Mitchell in a time of 9:31.03, well under the 9:44.00 qualifying time.

The win secures Heiner a spot on the Australian team at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Kazan, Russia, and she will now look to continue her form at the upcoming Australian Athletics Championships next week.
