NSWIS skier Russ Henshaw added a second world championship medal to his resume after a stellar performance in the ski slopestyle at the 2015 Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Austria.

Henshaw, the 2011 bronze medallist in the same event, posted a score of 91.8 points in the final to initially take the lead, before Swiss skier Fabian Boesch regained it with a 92.6 point run.

Despite not being able to overturn the deficit, Henshaw said he was happy to have put all three runs together and stand on the podium with a medal.

“It felt good today and I put down three good runs and I’m pumped,” Henshaw said to the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia.

“I kind of came into the event to have some fun and put down a run that I would be happy with,” he said.

The championships came to a close over the weekend with Henshaw’s fellow NSWIS athletes Sami Kennedy-Sim and Anton Grimus finishing 12th and 26th respectively in the women’s and men’s ski cross event.

The Australian team finished equal fifth on the medal table, equalling China’s record of two gold, one silver and one bronze, with NSWIS athlete Britt Cox taking bronze in the women’s freestyle moguls earlier in the competition.
