Australia’s leading female mogul skier Britt Cox (NSWIS) has continued her purple patch of form to win her fifth ABOM Mogul Challenge title less than a week after winning the women’s competition at the Australian Mogul Championships in Perisher.

The ABOM Mogul Challenge is the longest running FIS mogul event in the world.

Fog delays punctuated this year’s 28th edition of the event on the Chamois ski run in the Mt Buller village, however the afternoon cleared for competition to take place. With a reduced time window due to the delays, an Olympic single mogul format was used.

Cox’s victory in the women’s event spearheaded a strong day for NSWIS supported athletes, with fellow NSWIS athlete Brodie Summers winning the men’s event, his second title at the ABOM Mogul Challenge.

Also on the women’s podium was the NSWIS’ Nicole Parks, while institute scholarship holders James Matheson and Rohan Chapman-Davies secured second and third in the men’s event to ensure it was an NSWIS podium lockout.

The fifth victory for Cox places her alongside legendary skiers Nick Cleaver and fellow NSWIS athlete Matt Graham as the most successful competitors in the history of the ABOM Mogul Challenge.

With a strong start to her season, Cox will look to continue her momentum as she looks towards the 2016/17 World Cup season.
