NSWIS’s Oliver Hoare qualified for the 2025 World Athletics Championships after clocking a time of 3:31.15 over 1500m at the Rome Diamond League meet.

Hoare, the Commonwealth champion, finished in ninth place after biding his time before a finishing burst allowed him to move up the rankings. He crossed the line well under the 3:33.00 qualifying standard.

France’s Azeddine Habz was victorious via a time of 3:29.72.

The Diamond League is the world’s premier athletics circuit and sits in the top tier of World Athletics one-day meets, offering athletes significant prize money and world ranking points. The Diamond League will make its next stop in Oslo on June 12.
