The Australian women’s hockey team, the Hockeyroos, have finished fourth in the 2013 Investec Challenge following a tough bronze medal playoff against England.

The Hockeyroos, featuring five NSWIS athletes, were the first to score, with Fiona Boyce hitting the back of the net after 24 minutes, before an equaliser came in the 44th minute.

Another Australia goal followed in the 52nd minute, however with two minutes left the English team capitalised on the Hockeyroos’ struggles to level the match at 2-2.

The extra time period saw some excellent attacking and defending, before the nailbiting penalty shootout was won 5-4 by England to secure bronze.

The NSWIS athletes in the team were Casey Eastham, Emily Hurtz, Kate Jenner, Emily Smith and Kellie White.
