The Australian women’s hockey team is on top of pool B after two matches of the 2013 FIH World League Finals in Argentina.

The team, featuring four NSWIS athletes, held hosts Argentina to a 1-1 draw in the opening match over the weekend, before defeating China 5-1 in the second match of the tournament.

NSWIS athlete Kellie White scored in the 18th minute to give the Australians a 2-0 lead, before a further two goals from fellow NSWIS athlete Emily Smith added to the Hockeyroos’ lead. Kate Jenner and Casey Eastham round out the NSWIS contingent in the squad.

The Australians next play trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand on Wednesday morning.
