NSWIS rower Erik Horrie has been recognised for his outstanding year by being named World Rowing’s Para Crew of the Year at an awards ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Horrie won the award following world championship victory in the men’s arms and shoulders single scull during the year, successfully defending his title from the 2013 World Championships.

Horrie said he was honoured to receive the award, and thanked his support crew including his family, coach and support staff at the NSWIS, Australian Paralympic Committee and AIS.

The double world champion will be aiming to replicate his efforts at next year’s world championships before the 2016 Paralympic Games.
